The Weeknd, Abel Tesfaye, has shocked us all by cutting off his locks.

A source told US Weekly, “It was a deliberate decision like a lot of artists do. New album, new look. He has been trying not to be photographed to unveil it all in a very deliberate rollout.”

Weeknd singer has also cleaned his Instagram slate by deleting all of his old selfies and videos. His new hair cut is a fresh high-top fade in the new promotional photographs for his upcoming third album, Starboy.  Maybe a new look also means a new sound as well?

It seems like a lot of fans can't feel their faces after this dramatic change.

Some fans were distraught by this revelation such as Instagram user rocanitto who commented "NOOOOOO."

Another comment that shared the same views was from user jayyysavvv_ "HE CUT HIS DREADS IM SHOOK." It seems that although some were against the change others are embracing it.

A user named fucksngnc commented "???????????? God, I love you so much I don't know what to do with these feelings ????."

While this style is new for Abel and his fans, it's more of a throw back for many others.

It's also possible that instead of simply a new look for a his album, The Weeknd singer cut his hair after growing it for four years out of convenience. He had told Rolling Stone in 2015, "I'll probably cut it if it starts interfering with my sight. I can kind of see it right now. But if I cut it, I'd look like everyone else. And that's just so boring to me."

It seems like both reasons are plausible. Either way fans are in for a new Weeknd when Starboy is released in a few weeks.
