Will a new One Direction-inspired TV series be the best show ever?
That is what Zayn Malik is hoping for as he and distinguished producer, Dick Wolf, prepare a new television show for NBC, centered around the famed boy band.
According to an announcement from Universal Television and NBC, the new project, tentatively titled Boys, will explore the "highs and lows of a wildly successful boy band."
Malik is undeniably fired up about working with super-producer, Wolf.
"Dick Wolf is a legend," the "PILLOWTALK" singer said. "The opportunity to work with him and NBC to create a compelling drama series is awesome."
While Directioners everywhere are undoubtedly shrieking with joy, there is someone that will not be setting their DVR; Malik's former manager and One Direction creator, Simon Cowell.
"Nothing surprises me anymore," the America's Got Talent judge told ET. "I think he should have come to me with it.
"I do actually believe that when they've got these ideas, bearing in mind where we started, they should actually come to me," Cowell continued.
Malik famously departed from One Direction in March of 2015, as his vision was to be a solo artist.
He went on to become the first British male artist to arrive at No. 1 on the charts in the U.S. and U.K. with his debut album, Mind Over Matter and single, "PILLOWTALK."
