Dead or Alive frontman Pete Burns died Sunday, Oct. 23, from a massive a heart attack. He was 57.
The sad news was confirmed in a statement to his fans on the late singer's Twitter account.
"All of his family and friends are devastated by the loss of our special star," the statement read. "He was a true visionary, a beautiful talented soul, and he will be missed by all who loved and appreciated everything he was and all of the wonderful memories he has left us with.
"We have no more words, we will make a further statement when we have had a chance to come to terms with our devastating loss. He will live forever in our memories."
Burns founded the band Dead or Alive in 1980. The group enjoyed mainstream success in 1985 with the hit "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)." He later did several television appearances in the U.K. over the years including competing on the British reality series Celebrity Big Brother 4 in 2006.
