The Cleveland Indians made fun of Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista on Twitter on Monday.
According to USA Today, Bautista said that the Blue Jays have been victims of circumstances during the first two games of the American League Championship Series. Bautistsa has complained about the umpiring; he also implied that the league has rigged the series against the Blue Jays.
"All you gotta do is look at video and count how many times Indians pitchers have thrown pitches over the heart of the plate. It hasn't been many," Bautista said. "They've been able to do that because of the circumstances - that I'm not trying to talk about, because I can't. That's for you guys to do. But you guys don't really want to talk about that, either."
USA Today reporter Mike Vorkunov tweeted Bautista’s quote and the Indians replied by tweeting a photo montage of relievers Andrew Miller and Cody Allen and starters Corey Kluber and Josh Tomlin with the word circumstances.
The Indians then asked their Twitter followers what their opponents next excuse would be.
Bautista has a .234 average with 22 home runs and 69 RBIs this season. He has a .143 average with two home runs and two RBIs in the playoffs.
The Indians lead the series 2-0.
