Appraising Pages is a company that sells monthly subscription boxes and one-time limited edition themed boxes several times per year. They are usually related to books or special fandoms from movies and television shows. I signed up for their Hocus Pocus box in October based on the classic film. Here’s what was inside.
This themed box was shipped in a unique and colorful package with the logo of the company and the theme labeled directly on it. The box was pretty in fall hues with an almost tie-dye pattern.
At the top of the box were a travel mug and two fashion accessories. The mug reads, “Oh look, another glorious morning. Makes me sick!” Any fan of the movie knows that this is one of Winnifred’s famous lines. It’s a plastic mug with a snap on top. It has thick walls that should hold in some heat for your coffee or tea.
The accessories are a button pin with a cartoon rendering of Winnie and a bracelet that has the words to Sara’s song that lures the children to the witches’ lair. The bracelet has some give to fit a variety of wrist sizes and I absolutely love it. It’s not waterproof, but most women remove their jewelry before hopping in the shower anyway. The pin is cute – the perfect size to fit on your purse or book bag.
The last two items in the box are a candle and a t-shirt. The candle has a wonderful pumpkin spice smell and drawings of the witches around the tin. I’m a huge fan of scented candles so this will definitely get some burn time. The t-shirt has another line from the film, “It’s just a bunch of hocus pocus.” It’s soft and true to size.
Overall, I thought the items included were well worth the price of the box. The one-time boxes normally range between $35-38. You know the theme and get your choice of t-shirt sizes, but everything else in the box, including the t-shirt design, is a surprise. They have yet to disappoint me.
