When the claws come out, a mother protects her young.
On Tuesday, Nov.29, 37-year-old singer Brandy Norwood and her mother Sonja Norwood got into a clap back war with 36-year-old singer Monica Brown’s fans.
The two "The Boy Is Mine" vocalists have been going at it for a while. But apparently, Brandy had it when Monica decided to share her personal story about her relationship with the legendary Whitney Houston on an episode of OWN’s Where are they now? Brown referred to Whitney as her “ fairy godmother.”
Most are familiar with the relationship Brandy and Houston had as they both starred in the 1997 Walt Disney television film Cinderella. Brandy has also referred to Houston as her godmother on numerous occasions. She responded to Monica’s comment on Instagram by posting a picture of the late singer and said that "someone" wanted the kind of relationship they had.
To add fuel to the fire, Brandy’s Instagram photo appeared the day after Brandy performed at the Soul Train awards where she took yet another shot at Monica.
Although Monica’s response was classy Brandy’s mom, Sonja Norwood, was also offended by Monica’s initial comment about the "fairy godmother" that she had to step into the ring. When Monica’s fans attacked Momma Norwood, she defended herself and her daughter.
And of course Brandy wasn’t going to let her mother get pounced on, so she then responded to Monica’s fans.
Who knows if these two will ever be a dynamic duo again. Maybe their next battle will be a sing off. What a sound that would be!
