Tracy Morgan said that he has forgiven the Walmart truck driver who left him seriously injured following a crash two years ago in New Jersey.
The comedian appeared on Conan Thursday, Nov. 3 and admitted that he has forgiven driver Kevin Roper and is "not even mad at him" anymore.
“I forgave him and I’m not even mad at him no more … But you know who is mad at him? All my white neighbors,” Morgan joked referring to the new neighborhood he moved to after reaching a settlement with Walmart for an undisclosed amount.
Morgan also joked about his family visiting him in the hospital and his grandmother being more worried about education than anything else.
"Just like every other old black woman, all she cares about is education. So I said, ‘Grandma, I made it. I’m alive.’ She said, ‘Good, now you can go back and get your GED.'”
The fatal crash occurred in June of 2014 when the truck Roper was operating struck a limousine carrying Morgan and several others from a show. The accident left the 30 Rock actor with a brain injury and killed his friend, comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair. A chain reaction also resulted on the highway and ultimately involved another 21 people and six vehicles.
It took the 47-year-old funnyman a long time to recover from that crash so it is good to see that he can now turn that tragedy and his personal triumph into laughs.
