The Ever After Box is a subscription service that sends monthly packages full of romance novels and related items based on a chosen theme. They’re known for including both print books and e-books as well as fashion items, candles, edibles and other goodies. They sell extras of past boxes on their website and being a huge fan of vampire fiction, I picked up their June Vampire romance box as a one-time package. Here’s what was inside.
Ever After shipments always arrive in a plain white box with their logo and theme pasted to the top with stickers. It’s sleek and attractive and low cost so they can put more money into the goodies inside.
When opening the box, all the paperwork explaining the contents was placed on top and everything else is nestled tightly below. I had no problems with broken items.
Tucked above the book selections were several items including a makeup sample, a hair stick, a flask and a cocktail recipe complete with vampire teeth. The makeup is vegan lipstick in a small tub with an applicator wand. It was only enough for a couple of applications, but it was a beautiful dark purplish red. I love vampy lipstick and this was right up my alley.
The hair stick was wooden (to double as a stake) and was beaded with a metal dragon hanging from it. I’d never used a hair stick before, so I had to look it up on the internet. I was surprised how easy it is to use and I immediately went out and bought some extras. They’re amazing for just throwing your hair in a quick bun before leaving the house. This one is surprisingly sturdy, although the dragon tends to get caught in my hair. I made sure the new ones I bought didn’t have dangles.
The flask is made of metal with the Ever After logo painted on. The lid stays attached when you unscrew it which is a nice feature. It seems like it will last for years. The cocktail made with the included recipe (for a blood red drink) can be carried in it if so desired.
When I ordered the box, the site said it was supposed to come with two e-books. One was Colleen Gleason’s Roaring Midnight and the other was Fright Court by Mindy Klasky. When it arrived, the code for Gleason’s novel had expired, so they included a werewolf romance novel code instead. It would have been nice to know ahead of time, but it didn’t really matter because I discovered that I already owned an e-book copy of Roaring Midnight. I enjoyed Fright Court and plan on buying the second book in the series soon.
The first print book in the box was The Last True Vampire by Kate Baxter. It came with a printed letter from the author and a bag of candy corn because I ordered the box in late fall. I tend to read romances as palette cleansers between heavier novels so I haven’t had a chance to get to this one yet, but it looks steamy with a serious tone.
The last book in the box was Tall, Dark and Vampire by Sara Humphreys. Another novel with a serious atmosphere, it looks like a hot read about a vampire discovering her mate has been reborn. It came with a letter and a cinnamon lollipop, because apparently that’s what blood smells like in the book.
Overall, this box came with four books plus two portions of candy, three quality bonus items and a cocktail recipe with teeth, all for $24.99 with free shipping. That’s a deal that’s hard to beat.
The Ever After Box changes romance genres by the month so if you like a variety, this is a great box to get.
