Part 1 of Emerald City’s inaugural episode ended with Dorothy killing the Witch of the East. Find out what happens next in this recap of part 2.

Dorothy takes her gun back from the dead Witch. She’s determined to get to the Wizard and go home. Lucas thinks the Wizard can fix his head. The Witch’s gold and ruby gloves appear on Dorothy’s hands, then disappear.

What can they do for her?

Glinda arrives in Oz. She greets her sister as East’s body is taken by on the street. The Wizard has allowed them to open their magic temple to lay their sister to rest through song. If done improperly, they’ll lose their powers.

The Wizard’s soldier tracks Dorothy through the caves. What will happen if he finds her? His men are turning on him. They fear he’ll get them killed and plan to kill him instead and blame it on lions.

Will they succeed?

Lucas and Dorothy follow the road through the mountains. The wound on his abdomen is bleeding profusely but he hides it from her. He staggers and falls. She puts pressure on it, but where will they find the antibiotics he needs?

Dorothy knocks on the door of a residence in the hills. The man points her towards an apothecary’s dwelling some distance away. The woman is making some kind of potion. She gives it to her son, Tip, then leaves to catch a chicken for dinner. Will Dorothy and Lucas miss her? The woman blocks her entrance with magical vines and Tip signals out the window with a stone. Another boy appears to get him out before she gets back. Is Tip really a prisoner? The second boy hacks at the vines with a sword.

Glinda brings the Wizard a new assistant to replace the pregnant girl. He wants Glinda and the Witch of the West to recreate the Prison of the Abject, but they cannot. They claim there are too many spell variations and the Witch of the East had no apprentice.

Tip’s friend, Jack, is still hacking at the vines to the entrance, but he’s not having much luck. Dorothy and Lucas appear and Tip asks Jack to hide. Dorothy asks for Mombi and she appears. She tells Dorothy she can use anything from her garden patch, but then notices Lucas’s sword. She asks them to move inside. What’s her ulterior motive?

One of the soldier’s men sneaks up on him in the dark and strikes with his sword. Will it kill him or will the man be punished?

Mombi doses her son with medicine again while he’s in the bath. She apologizes for keeping him cooped up, but claims she’s keeping him alive. What’s the truth of the situation?

Dorothy’s herbal concoction seems to be helping Lucas. Mombi asks her what kind of witch she is. She then asks Lucas how long he’s been in the Wizard’s guard. Apparently he carries the guard’s sword. What do they have to do with the destruction of his home and nearly himself? Mombi claims the guard does unthinkable things to good people. She thinks Lucas is lying. This situation is getting dangerous.

The Wizard’s soldier greets his other men, and they find the one who attacked him left in pieces. The soldier tells them it was lions and leaves it at that.

Glinda and the Witch of the West are followed to the temple by the Wizard. He’s opening the funeral to the public as a reminder of what witches used to be. He wants to embarrass them to show his power over them. Can the witches rise above it?

Dorothy heard movement upstairs and finds Toto digging at a door. She sends him back downstairs, but Tip tucks a note under the door that says, “Help me.” Meanwhile, downstairs, Mombi seems to be poisoning a cup of tea. Dorothy confronts her about the boy. He’s not Mombi’s son, but she’s trying to protect him.

The Wizard invites his new girl to the funeral. Glinda threatens the Witch of the West if she gets the song wrong. West appears to be drunk. She performs the ceremony with her fellow witches, and it’s dark and frightening. She absorbs East’s energy and the roof explodes off the temple. The other witches twitch as if in seizure. Was that supposed to happen? The townspeople run, but the Wizard looks amused.

Lucas wakes as Dorothy takes his sword. He tells her to keep it if it puts her mind at ease. They don’t know who he really is. He starts to have a seizure. He drank from Mombi’s poison cup. Dorothy crushes charcoal from the fire and makes it into tea for him to drink. It soaks up the poison and saves him. Dorothy takes his sword and goes to find Mombi. Can Dorothy kill her for what she’s done?

Glinda rouses West to find out if she gained their sister’s spells. West chokes, then vomits them into a glass vase. What will they do with the magic?

Dorothy and Jack break down Tip’s door. He digs for his medicine so they can leave. He finds a small amount and Jack finds what looks like a golden dagger. Tip asks him to leave it. He doesn’t want any part of her. They run.

Dorothy blocked Mombi’s bedroom door with the sword, but Mombi blasts it away. Can Dorothy and Lucas escape before she gets downstairs? Mombi has a breakdown when she finds out her son has gone and tries to shove poison flowers into Dorothy’s mouth. Lucas stabs her from behind. Dorothy coughs out the poison while Lucas crushes Mombi’s head with an urn. He and Dorothy are both horrified with what he’s done.

Jack and the son celebrate in the forest. Can he live without Mombi’s medicine?

The Wizard taunts Glinda who claims they’re friends. The townspeople fear her now, as he planned.

Dorothy, Lucas and Toto follow the road without speaking. Can they move past what’s happened? Meanwhile, Mombi’s body starts to twitch.

Jack wakes to find Tip gone. He finds a girl in Tip’s coat who claims to be Tip. Why would Mombi hide her gender? I guess we’ll find out on episode 2 this Friday.
