Joey Jordison's departure from Slipknot years ago might have surprised fans. Now the drummer, who co-founded the band, is telling us why.

With his band Vimic gearing up for an eventful year, Jordison, 41, couldn't help but open up about his time in Slipknot.

The musician spoke with AXS about how Acute Transverse Myelitis affected his drumming. The spinal chord disorder not only affected his legs, but he also had to learn how to walk again.

Jordison still to this day does not know why he was ousted from the band in 2013.

“That’s a really great question, and that’s a hard question to answer as I know that everything is publicized right now so I gotta really watch my words,” he prefaced. “The thing is, I got visited in the hospital by one member of the band when they all knew I was in there … and next thing you know, I got exited from the band. And I don’t know why. I don’t understand what the deal was.”

The former drummer of the beloved metal band also debunked the rumors out there, regarding how he quit the band.

“There’s been a bunch of rumors and stuff like, you know, why it was, and it is absolutely untrue … but it’s okay. Life takes you down weird paths .. I came back right after I got through with this, and I came back, and I did the festivals, and I killed it,” said Jordison.

“I didn’t quit Slipknot. I would never have quit Slipknot, ever.” Jordison continued, “I just want the fans to know that. It’s important for everyone to know that.”

As for Jordison's new music from Vimic, the band has released three singles from their new album Open Your Omen.
