Just shy of a week after Mariah Carey's disastrous New Year's Eve performance in Times Square we heard from almost everyone working that night about what they believed happened, everyone except Ryan Seacrest.
As we all know Carey had the misfortune of something going terribly wrong during her live performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest and there has been tons of blame and finger-pointing from many who were there. Now, the show's host is giving his take on the debacle.
On his radio show Seacrest, who has been a part of the NYE show since 2005, defended the team who works on the annual special.
“I know this team of producers. I’ve known these guys for years. I knew Dick Clark very, very well. This is a team that wants to do everything they can to accommodate any artist," he said. "We are in the business of wanting people to look good. And believe me, tricky things, tough things can happen. It happens on live television. You’ve seen artists before in a concert pull out their earpiece because something happens. Something could have happened in the ears. I wasn’t in those ears. It’s just unfortunate that it comes to all of this.”
His comments follow claims made earlier this week by members of Carey's team that Dick Clark Productions deliberately sabotaged her performance, something DCP strongly denies.
The diva herself also spoke about the performance earlier this week and said she was "mortified" by the whole thing but it will not stop her from singing at live events in the future, however, it will make her “less trusting of using anyone outside of [her] own team.”
