Los Angeles brand Creative Recreation has tapped Nick Jonas in designing a sneaker collection for them.
According to GQ, the 24-year-old "Close" singer has had ties with the label since his touring days for the Jonas Brothers.
Jonas expressed his enthusiasm about the brand allowing him to take the reigns on the six-piece collection.
"The thing that was so exciting is that C.R. really let me take the lead," states Jonas. "I sat with them and said, 'Listen, I’m not a shoe designer but I’d really like to learn and grow.'"
The 1410 Collection by Nick Jonas x Creative Recreation features sneakers with low tops and high tops, suiting the singer's sleek, yet casual style.
"Some of the shoes in my line are based off of pre-existing styles, but I’ve taken them, and flipped them to given them my personal touch," explains Jonas. "And I designed them with an eye toward where I’m going, not only as an actor and musician and performer, but as a creative person.
Although Jonas modeled for the photoshoot, he also served as the creative director for the shoot. The sneaker line, however, is unisex.
If all goes well with the line, Jonas hinted at another collection.
"We asked ourselves how do we lay down a strong foundation for the collaboration. This could go on a long time," he says.
You can purchase the capsule collection, ranging from $95 to $150, starting on Feb. 11 on creativerecreation.com, at Nordstrom or Bloomingdale's. You can also meet the singer at The Grove's Nordstrom when the line launches.
