LANY kicked off a new era today with the announcement of their debut self-titled album, out this summer on Polydor Records. If the lead single “Good Girls” is any indication, the California trio are about to have a career-changing year.

After uploading their first single, "Hot Lights," to SoundCloud in 2014, LANY instantly attracted fans of glimmering alt-pop artists like The 1975 and Troye Sivan. Dreamy, synthetic EPs Make Out and I Loved You dropped in 2015, proving LANY had the power to be a household name. Their poetic love songs and amped up energy earned them opening slots for major tours with the likes of Halsey and X Ambassadors later that year.

Since then, Paul Jason Klein, Les Priest and Jake Goss have been developing their sound through experience. Their third EP, kinda, showed a dramatic improvement in both songwriting and melodic structure. Where their early work relied heavily on synths and keyboard, kinda saw LANY moving in a more intimate direction without losing their core identity. Vibrant, warm and atmospheric, listening to LANY feels like being the star in a Sofia Coppola film.

“Good Girls” is an extension of this process, replacing naive lyrics for more versatile and thoughtful verses. It’s a more mature sound, but the band’s fundamental youth is still present. There’s a sense of self-discovery and growth within the scenic, longing lyrics. LANY meld together the best of ‘80s new-wave and huge Top 40 pop hooks. Look passed Klein’s desperate choruses, and “Good Girls” is a perfectly constructed work of dreamy synth-pop that will have you up and dancing for hours.

According to an announcement made on the band’s Instagram, three more singles - “It Was Love,” “The Breakup” and “13” - will be released before the album. Pre-order LANY before it hits stores June 30 and don't miss the band on tour this spring!
