Astronauts come in contact with alien life and two popular TV shows make their way to the big screen this weekend. Dax Shepherd revamped a late 70’s TV comedy hit. The popular 90’s kids show, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, gets an updated look.

A group of five teens uncover an old spaceship and gain special powers in Power Rangers. When aliens invade and threaten the earth, the high schoolers realize that it’s up to them to band together and use their newfound abilities to save the world. The PG-13 action adventure stars Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston and Bill Hader. The sci-fi family film runs for two hours and four minutes.

A federal agent goes undercover within the California Highway Patrol to try to nab corrupt cops involved in a heist in Chips. He is teamed up with a former professional motor-biker turned rookie police officer. The two very different personalities must figure out how to work together if they’re ever going to catch the dirty cops. Dax Shepherd wrote and stars in the comedic action film alongside Michael Peña, Rosa Salazar, Adam Brody, Kristen Bell and Vincent D'Onofrio. The adventure plays for one hour and forty-one minutes. It’s rated R for sex, nudity, language, violence and drugs.

Astronauts orbiting in space on the International Space Station come in contact with life from another planet in Life. What starts out as a euphoric breakthrough turns into a fight for survival as they discover that the specimen in their possession is responsible for the end of life on Mars. Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal star in the sci-fi thriller alongside Rebecca Ferguson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ariyon Bakare and Olga Dihovichnaya. The one hour and forty-three minute film is rated R for language, violence and terror.

An eccentric man discovers that his ex-wife gave birth to a daughter and put her up for adoption 17 years ago in Wilson. Excited to learn more, he convinces his ex to join him as he searches for their child in the hopes of forming a relationship with her. Woody Harrelson, Laura Dern, Judy Greer, Cheryl Hines and Isabella Amara star in the one hour and thirty-four minute comedy based on Daniel Clowes’ graphic novel of the same name. The film is rated R for language and sex.

A young girl struggles with the loss of her brother in Dig Two Graves. She discovers that there may be a way to bring him back to life, but there’s a big price to pay. The unrated, limited released horror film runs for one hour and twenty-four minutes.

Another horror film, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, is set to enter theaters next week. March 31 is also the release date for the biopic Zookeeper’s Wife, the anime-turned-live-action film Ghost in the Shell and the animated family comedy Boss Baby.
