When Aaron Hernandez was found dead in his prison cell on Wednesday morning, he reportedly had a Bible scripture written on his forehead in a blood red marker.

WBZ Boston has reported that the former New England Patriots tight end had the Bible verse "John 3:16" scribbled above his eyes when he was found dead from an apparent suicide.

That verse is one of the most-quoted by followers of the Christian faith and reads: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

The report also goes on to say that there may be evidence that Hernandez smoked synthetic marijuana called K2 hours before his death.

After Hernandez was found hanging in his cell by a bed sheet on April 19, authorities called the death a suicide but an investigation is said to be ongoing. The former NFL star's lawyer, Jose Baez, is one of the many people shocked that his client would have taken his own life days after his acquittal of double murder. Baez believes that Hernandez may have been murdered and his law firm is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
