Queen Bey is helping young women get in formation as they get an education.
The singer announced the establishment of the Formation Scholars awards via her website on Tuesday, April 25. The scholarship will begin during the 2017-18 school year and will be awarded to to "encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident."

One scholarship will be awarded to each of the program's four participating schools: Parsons School of Design, Howard University, Berklee College of Music and Spelman College. Scholarship winners have to be enrolled in a program for music, the creative arts, literature or African American Studies. The award will be open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Award amounts are yet to be disclosed and application details and deadlines will be shared by the individual schools.
The announcement came nearly a year to the day that her smash-hit visual album Lemonade was released. According to Vulture, the impact of the album continues to be felt. Last week, Lemonade received a Peabody Award for contributions to "the greater cultural landscape."
