After nearly two decades of catchy songs, Britney Spears will receive the Radio Disney Music Icon Award on Saturday, April 29.
From “Oops!... I Did It Again” to “Toxic,” Spears has delivered hit after hit.
Phil Guerini, who is the general manager at Radio Disney Network and Vice President for music strategy at Disney Channels Worldwide released a statement on Spears as the recipient:
“Having just celebrated 20 years of Radio Disney in 2016, we are excited to introduce the DMA Icon Award as special recognition of an artist whose music has been loved and adored by generations of Radio Disney fans. We are proud to celebrate Britney as the first recipient for this award acknowledging her chart-topping career on Radio Disney since 1998.”
The mother of two debuted with “…Baby One More Time” at just 16-years-old. In addition to earning eight Grammy nominations, the pop singer has sold over 150 million records worldwide.
Apart from having 15 singles top the Radio Disney airwaves, the 35-year-old has topped over $100 million for her Britney: Piece of Me tour during her Sin City residency. She has earned “Best Overall Show” and “Best Resident Performer” since her time there.
The Radio Disney Music Awards will air April 30 on Disney-branded channels.
