Former MTV reality star Clay Adler, who was featured on the show Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County, has committed suicide. He was 27.
TMZ reported that Adler died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face while he was on a trip with some friends.
Sources told the media outlet that he went shooting in the desert with his buddies on March 25 and at some point turned the gun on himself. He was transported to an area hospital but was pronounced dead on March 26.
Adler starred on the MTV show for two seasons and later became friends with Jennifer Lawrence.
Insiders have said that neither drugs or nor alcohol were in his system at the time he shot himself, however, he has reportedly struggled with mental illness in the past.
His pals had a tribute for him in Newport Beach, California, over the weekend.
Lawrence has not yet commented about the news.
