FFC-Acrush is China's newest and hottest boy band. They're not your typical pop sensation though.

According to the A.V. Club, the group premiered earlier in March at a music showcase called "Husband Exhibition." This showcase allowed female college students from across China to get a first look at the heartthrobs they call "husband," a term for their celebrity crushes. But band members, Lu Keran, An Junxi, Peng Xichen, Min Junqian and Lin Fan had a surprise in store for their fans.

They are female. These members, all in their late teens or early 20s, rock short-hair, androgynous styles and loose-fitting men's clothes.

Quartz shared that the group avoided using terms that identify them as "he" or "she." Rather, they use "meishaonian," which is a genderless term that means "handsome youth." They also do not discuss their sexual orientation - they simply are who they are.

Their fans are predominantly female and are comparable to fans other boy bands. This is because fans feel that the band understands them better through the way they reply to each and every person who writes in via social media. This is done to "show gratitude' to the fans.

It's working. Acrush had nearly 1 million followers on Weibo, which is China's version of Twitter, and is creeping up in numbers close to Katy Perry. The band also created an Instagram and Twitter.

Although their first music video is to be released in April, they are already on the rise in China.
