Taissa Farmiga will be starring in The Nun, the second spinoff from The Conjuring films, which stars her sister, Vera Farmiga.

The franchise, which has also spawned Annabelle, has grossed $897 million globally.

Whether the casting of Vera's sister is intentional to the plot or not remains a mystery. The introduction of the frightening nun does, however, appear in The Conjuring 2, when Lorraine Warren, played by Vera, encounters it through a painting.

There is no word if Vera or the other actors from the previous films, will be making cameos.

James Wan, who directed The Conjuring, will helm the script as well as co-produce The Nun with Gary Dauberman. The development of the movie followed after the success of The Conjuring 2 last June.

Earlier in the year, it was reported that British director Corin Hardy would direct The Nun.

Slated to release on July 13, 2018, the film falls on Friday the 13th.

Taissa is no stranger to the horror genre. The 22-year-old has had reoccurring role in the FX anthology series, American Horror Story.
