Weeks after April the Giraffe gave birth to her calf, the baby boy now has a name.
After a naming contest was held by Animal Adventure Park,the top ten names were tallied after people voted. A keeper for April named Alyssa was selected to pick the name. She chose to name the baby Tajiri, or Taj for short. The definition of the name is “hope” or “confidence.”
On their Facebook page where they made the announcement, Alyssa said she couldn’t have chosen the name without her fellow keeper, Corey.
She chose the name due to the baby being a sign of hope when it came to working on the conservation of giraffes.

The keepers thanked everyone for their votes and supporting their giraffes.
While 24/7 live streaming did end for the giraffe cam, it recently made a comeback for fans to watch the mother and son Tuesdays from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
