It's no secret that Ariel Winter and her mom, Chrisoula Workman, have not had a good relationship over the years. On Mother's Day, the actress made it known that the status of that relationship has not changed with a post to her sister who she called the "best mom."

Winter took to Instagram on Sunday, May 14, with a post of her giving her sister, Shanelle Gray, a kiss on the cheek and captioned it, "Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers. I was lucky enough to have an unbelievable sister who raised me to be the woman I am today. I wouldn’t be anywhere without her love and guidance. She’s my rock and my best friend in the entire world. There’s no one more loving, caring, smart, and beautiful inside and out.
"She's the best mom, wife, sister, friend, and business woman in the world:) Skylar, Parker, David and I are beyond lucky. Thank you for all you are. You are so appreciated and loved."
In 2012, after the Department of Children and Family Services found evidence that Workman was abusing Winter, Gray became her legal guardian. In 2015, the Modern Family star announced that she had officially become an emancipated minor.
While Winter does have a relationship with her father, she has always been public about her gratitude for her big sis.
