Leonardo DiCaprio just joined the many celebrities who have made donations to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas.

What's so special about this donation? The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation made the very first donation to the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund with $1 million.

In return, the United Way pledged that 100% of the monies received will go back to the hurricane victims, a project that will take years.

Brian Gallagher, the United Way Worldwide president and CEO made this statement:

"We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Leonardo DiCaprio and his foundation. Responding to Hurricane Harvey requires the best of all of us — and that’s what this gift represents."

This isn't the first time The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation helped fund disaster relief. They donated to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2010 Haiti earthquake and Hurricane Sandy in 2012, according to Variety.

DiCaprio joins stars Sandra Bullock, J.J. Watt, Chris Young, Kevin Hart, the Kardashians, Ellen DeGeneres and more who have donated money to various organizations who are helping with the disaster relief.
