Pop-singer Aaron Carter has often been caught up at the negative end of publicity having had several public outburst and personal issues. However, on September 13 he took to his Facebook and Instagram to try and do some good by starting a GoFundMe page for Hurricane Irma relief.
The GoFundMe page reads,
“This is Aaron Carter. I'd love to see all of my fans come together, just as they have in the past (Wheels for Elijah) to raise money to help the devastated people of FL after Hurricane Irma. Many people have lost their homes, businesses and their lives. 100% of the proceeds will go to helping the people of the Florida Keys. Praying for everyone affected by this natural disaster. Thank you to all who donate and God Bless.”
The goal is set at $10,000. After 23 hours they have raised a total of $885, with many in the comments section promising to donate more in the near-future. No mention of where the donated money will precisely go is mentioned in the post; however, we know that Carter wants to help out in the Florida Keys.
In 2015, Carter also created a GoFundMe page for his disabled friend Elijah Sprague, raising money to get him a wheelchair accessible van.
Carter is just one of the long list of celebrities who have either pledged money or started a campaign for hurricane relief. Others include Tyler Perry, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Sandra Bullock and many more, many more. The Hand in Hand Hurricane Harvey telethon was able to raise over $44 million for relief efforts.
The CW Network also recently released a video of several of their cast members on Twitter, telling us to "stand together," and asking for donations. Watch it here:
