Ready for more Godzilla?

Director Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘R Treat, Krampus) took to his Twitter to give us the first official look to the anticipated sequel, Godzilla: King of Monsters.

The CGI might still need a touch up, but overall pretty cool picture. Granted, we're not entirely sure what it is we’re looking at, why the monster is on a blue screen or what the thing in the front of the picture is, but cool nonetheless.

The last time we saw the giant lizard on screen was in 2014, from director Gareth Edwards. Earlier this year we saw Kong: Skull Island hit theaters, with the crossover — Godzilla vs. Kong — coming in 2020.

We don’t know a whole lot about Godzilla: King of Monsters at this point, as Dougherty is doing his best to keep plot details under wraps. However, given the post-credit scene in Kong: Skull Island, we're placing our bets on either Mothra or Rodan showing up at some point.

Godzilla: King of Monsters is scheduled for release on March 22, 2019. The film stars Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler (who ironically appeared in the Peter Jackson’s 2005 version of King Kong), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) and, reprising his role from the first film, Ken Watanabe.
