We didn’t see much change at the weekend box office which gave us the worst three-day Labor Day weekend in twelve years. August was a rough month for the box office.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard remained at the top spot for a third straight weekend and brought in $10.3 million and is approaching $55 million domestically.

Annabelle: Creation remains in second place with $7.3 million and is closing in on $90 million domestically after 24 days of release. The film could potentially cross $100 million domestically which would be the only August release to reach this mark.

Wind River finished in third place with $5.9 million. Leap! finished in fourth place with $4.9 million and Logan Lucky rounds out the top five with $4.4 million.

Dunkirk brought in $4.1 million and is closing in on $180 million domestically. Spider-Man: Homecoming is approaching $325 domestically and is closing in on $750 million worldwide.

The Emoji Movie ($2.5 million), Despicable Me 3 ($2.4 million) and Girls Trip ($2.3 million) round out the top ten. Girls Trip crossed $110 million domestically after 45 days of release.

We can guarantee to have a new box office champion next weekend as we see the release of the highly anticipated Stephen King adaptation It opens in over 4,000 theaters.
