The NFL is looking for someone to headline this year’s Super Bowl halftime show and we now know that it won’t be Jay-Z.

According to The Source, Jay-Z turned down an offer to perform during the Super Bowl 52 halftime show. This isn’t the first time that someone has turned down the Super Bowl halftime gig. Last year Adele declined an offer to perform at the Super Bowl and the job went to Lady Gaga.

“No decisions have been made on the performer(s) and we are not going to speculate on particular artists,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told Pro Football Talk via email. “Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names.”

It’s interesting that the rap mogul turned down the gig when his wife Beyoncé was the halftime performer for Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. So why did he turn it down? It could be his way of continuing to support quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who still doesn’t have a job in the NFL. Last week Jay-Z dedicated a song to Kaepernick at a concert in New York City.

So now the question is who will be the Super Bowl halftime performer?
