While doing a Japanese press tour for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi, writer-director Rian Johnson announced that actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, 500 Days of Summer) will be appearing in a small cameo role in the upcoming film.
The quote from Johnson goes, “My very good friend, the actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt — who was in a movie I made called Looper — he does a cameo as a voice of an alien in the film. It’s a very brief, little thing, but it’s fun, and if you watch the movie maybe you’ll be able to hear and pick out Joe’s voice in the movie.”
Along with Looper, Levitt has also starred in Johnson’s directorial debut film Brick, which was released in 2005.

It seems like The Last Jedi is continuing the tradition that Star Wars: The Force Awakens started by having esteemed actors appear in small, unrecognizable roles — as Force Awakens saw Daniel Craig appear as a storm-trooper and Simon Pegg voice Unkar Plutt, the greedy junk collector.
As to what alien Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to be playing, it’s anyone's guess, but we’re glad that Johnson and Levitt’s friendship has held up through the years.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on December 15. You’re probably going to want to get your tickets as soon as you can, because this one is going to sell-out quick.
