Lil Wayne was hospitalized after being found unconscious in a Chicago's Westin on Michigan Avenue after suffering from multiple seizures.

His rep confirmed to TMZ that the seizures occurred before his concert in Los Vegas, which had to be canceled, and his is now resting comfortably.

According to the Daily Mail, four years ago, after Wayne was hospitalized in a Los Angeles, he told radio station Power 106 he was epileptic and prone to seizures.

“Like, this isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures, y’all just never hear about them...  But the reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself.”

Back in 2013 he also told E! he gets no warning when the seizures come on. A prodrome, the feeling that something may happen, or an aura, first symptom of a seizure, can alert an epileptic to get somewhere safe. Seizure sufferers tend to become more prone when they are tired, haven't had enough protein or drink alcohol.

Wayne's use of lean, a codeine drink commonly mixed with grape Jolly Ranchers, is suspected to be part of the problem, as over use can cause serotonin syndrome, which comes with the risk of seizures. However, sedatives may be something he feels helps his situation as they calm the brain receptors that are over-stimulated and cause the seizures.

There are over a dozen types of seizures and each is treated differently. According to the Epilepsy Foundation, each person’s seizures are different. But seizures are usually stereotypic, so a certain activity will trigger a seizure and the seizure itself will remain similar every time.

Hopefully Wayne will recover quickly.
