Co-host of WFAN’s Boomer and Carton Show, Craig Carton was arrested Wed. on allegations of conspiracy, wire fraud and securities fraud.

FBI agents took Carton into custody before his early morning show. His partner for the past 10 years simply thought he'd called in sick. Boomer found out live on air that Craig had been arrested, saying, "I am surprise and taken aback by it just like I'm sure everybody else is."

Carton apparently had millions of dollars in gambling debt that, with the help of parters, he repaid by stealing from others in an elaborate Ponzi scheme. He allegedly brought investors in on what to them was a high-end ticket resale business for concerts like Adele, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Metallica and Barbra Streisand. Instead he pocketed their money.

Sports Illustrated reports he and his co-conspirator Joseph Meli allegedly defrauded New York-Based Brigade Capital Management of $4.6 million.

Meli was arrested in November for a similar scheme with Broadway show tickets. His trial is in November. A third partner, Michael Wright, a New Jersey-based strip club executive, may be named as an addition co-conspirator.

Carton was released on a $500,000 bond late Wednesday. WFAN has suspended him until further notice.
