And the streaming platforms get more and more powerful by the minute.
Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken! is a real movie that’s actually being made. And now, you’re going to be able to watch it on YouTube Red.
Morgan Spurlock’s first Super Size Me, which came out in 2004, was something of a surprise hit. Sure, it’s an interesting concept and all, but I don’t think anyone expected it to become the go-to documentary to show in Health class during production. Watch the trailer here to remind yourself:
Thirteen years later and Spurlock is back at it again. This time he’s not eating only McDonalds for just a month — instead, he’s opening his own chicken restaurant and taking a look at American consumption.
And now YouTube Red has picked it up, in a deal that was worth an estimated $3.5 million. When speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Spurlock said: “I’m ecstatic to be partnering with YouTube Red for the release of Super Size Me 2! There’s no one better to help get this film in front of more people worldwide than these guys. They are going to blow this clucker up!”
