Spider-Man: Homecoming is hitting its blu-ray release on Oct. 17, 2017. We’re all excited to start watching it on repeat, and to make matters even better Marvel has released a new featurette that’s included with the blu-ray, in which Stan Lee talks about the Vulture’s origins. Watch it here:

“I did the Vulture many years ago,” said Lee in the video. “He was one of Spider-man’s first villains and I liked the idea of somebody who is not very muscular but who has the ability the fly, and is strong enough to do what has to be done.”

The featurette, while short, also includes interviews from actor Michael Chernus — who played The Tinkerer in Homecoming — and co-producer Eric Hauserman Carroll.

In the comics, the Vulture was originally bald, older and dons a green and feathered suit. Figuring out how to translate this cartoon-y to the screen was a challenge the filmmakers had to overcome — and found their answer through Michael Keaton.

Keaton plays Adrian Toomes aka the Vulture in Homecoming — and instead of giving him a tacky winged outfit, they give his costume a more military, combat look. Check out this clip with Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming:

“What we did,” said Carroll in the video, “is take a step back and think, how can we make him feel scarier?”

Mission accomplished. Check out Stan Lee’s original Vulture character in all the old Spider-Man comics (which you should totally be reading just for fun), and watch Keaton play him in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
