Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle continues to dominate the box office as it remained number one at the box office for the third straight weekend.

Jumanji brought in an impressive $20 million as its total domestic gross crossed $315 million. It also continues to impress at the international box office as its worldwide gross stands just shy of $770 billion.

12 Strong opened in second place with a better than expected opening weekend of $16.5 million. Early reviews of the film were positive which could help the film sustain a continued audience over the coming weeks.

Third place went to Den of Thieves as this film also had a rather impressive opening. The film opened with $15.3 million and I was rather impressed with the opening of this film. I do predict this will be the only week this film finishes inside the top five.

The Post dropped two spots to fourth place with $12.1 million. The total domestic gross passed $45 million and should continue to grow as it continues to expand into other markets over the next few weeks.

The Greatest Showman rounds out the top five with $11 million as its total domestic gross stands around $113 million. This is another film with an opening around Christmas that has continued to show great endurance at the box office.

Last weekend’s wide releases Paddington 2 and The Commuter finished in sixth and seventh place. They both stand around $25 million domestically.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi finished in eighth place this weekend with $6.6 million and has now grossed $604 million domestically. It is only the sixth film in history that has crossed $600 million domestically.

Insidious: The Last Key ($5.9 million) and Forever My Girl ($4.7 million) round out the top ten this weekend. Pitch Perfect 3 also crossed $100 million domestically while Coco hit $200 million domestically this weekend.

Can Jumanji make it four weekends in a row? It will face competition from Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the third film in The Maze Runner franchise.
