“It’s not over yet….”

We begin tonight’s episode at one of our familiar Gotham spots…Arkham Asylum. We get to see Jervis Tetch aka The Mad Hatter in this opening. He hypnotizes a guard in order to escape. He also goes to recruit some buddies. He picks up Jonathan Crane aka Scarecrow and Jerome Valeska aka The Joker. Awesome to see these three in the opening. They walk freely outside with several other Arkham inmates.

Jim and Bullock quickly respond and find the escaped inmates. Jim knows Jerome is behind this. They get a call from Tetch. They know Tetch is trying to trap them. They arrive and find a group of hypnotized people. He blames Jim for the death of sister Alice and quickly kills two people right in front of them. Tetch is clearly out for revenge.

Bruce and Selina are continuing their work and trying to find out more information about Jerome. They sneak into GCPD and Selina is able to steal some of the files. Bruce feels responsible for anything Jerome does. He feels this since he didn’t kill Jerome when he had the chance. Selina tries to humble him a bit. It doesn’t help as he quickly kicks her out of his car. Always something between Selina and Bruce.

Barbara’s migraines seem to be getting worse. Barbara can’t remember anything and when she tries, the pain only increases. She tries very hard and it takes into a flashback when she died and how Ra’s Al Ghul found her and resurrected her by giving her the Lazarus water. We also find out that he was choosing her to be the Demon’s Head and be the new leader of The League of Shadows. She tells Tabitha to get ready…that The League is coming.

Jim and Bullock are trying to track Tetch’s next move. They figure out that he is hypnotizing people and telling them to stand on the roof of buildings and wait until midnight to jump. He has thousands of people ready to jump. Bullock turns on the radio to try and find the station Tetch is using. He finds it on WZPZ and is quickly hypnotized himself. It’s up to Jim to find Tetch before Bullock and many other Gothamites perish.

The cops are looking for Jerome and they check his Uncle Zach’s diner. Jerome is obviously hiding out there. He is looking for some information about a school from his uncle. Zach isn’t having any of it. He wants revenge on Jerome for killing his sister. He pours hot soup on him and threatens to kill him when Bruce arrives. Bruce to the rescue? He wants Jerome to face justice. Bruce starts to fight the uncle’s friend while Jerome finally gets the information he was looking for. He quickly dispatches of his uncle. Jerome then looks on as Bruce is struggling when Selina makes the save! She rescues Bruce and is ready to shoot Jerome when Bruce stops her. Jerome slips away while Selina and Bruce share yet another moment. Bruce does find the address of a school called St. Ignatius.

The League of Shadows arrives to see Barbara. Some of them are skeptical that Barbara is the Demon’s Head. Some challenge her and some meet their end. They look ready to accept her rule when the lights out and guns start shooting. When the lights come back on, only the sisters of the League remain. They tell Barbara they pledge their loyalty to her and that they can do great things together.

Jim is scrambling to find Tetch and avoid the devastation. He finds Tetch at the WZPZ station. He tries to command Tetch to reverse the spell but Tetch tells him there is nothing he can do. Jim gets on the radio and begs everyone to save themselves. Jim has the right voice as Tetch’s spell is broken and everyone is safe. Major crisis dodged. Jim and Bullock are relieved and share some bonding time over some whiskey. The bonding time is short-lived when Bruce calls them and tells them he is going to St. Ignatius to find out why Jerome wanted to go there. Work for a GCPD officer never stops.

Tetch is being transported back to Arkham when obviously the van is halted. Scarecrow and Jerome go to break him out. Jerome says everything is going according to his plan and that they are just getting started. The Mad Hatter, Scarecrow and Jerome being and end this episode! Excellent episode tonight. Tonight’s episode was also directed by Jim Gordon himself, Ben McKenzie!
