PrideFest in Milwaukee, which celebrates the LGTBQ community and the upholding of progressive acceptance, is looking to be super and spectacular, with star-studded headliners and a collaboration of talents, local and abroad. If you're looking for seductive tunes and a good festival all the while supporting the LGTBQ, then this should be a festival marked on your Calender. Not from June 8 - 10, but starting June 7.
The B-52s, Jussie Smollett and Daya are headlining for PrideFest 2018 for June 8 to the 10th on the Summerfest grounds, rocking out on the Miller Lite Mainstage.
The extra day is On June 7, there is a pre-game party. ARCW and Energy 106.9 are sponsoring the celebration party which will be limited to the Dance Pavilion, with a $10 door fee. Milwaukee Pride Board President Wes Shaver stated with energy,
“Not only does this expansion and line up mean growth for Milwaukee Pride, Inc. and PrideFest, it means growth in tourism, national recognition and activation in our wonderful city. We are thrilled to be adding an additional day to contribute to our community beneficiary, PLUS ONE partner and further inject resources into our local LGBT community."
Grammy singer Daya lights things off at the festival on June 8.
Jussie Smollett, with a cadre of talents including acting and singing (most known for his role in Empire as Jamal Lyon), will headline the following day.
The B-52s will wrap things up spectacularly on June 10. Pridefest is especially pleased because they have wanted them to perform there for so long. Especially because of the poppy vibrant career they've had since 1978 with a plethora of artistic creation rolled out, especially notable in the '80s.
This Pridefest marks 31 years, since 1988, that pride celebrations have partied it up in Milwaukee.
The original 1988 Pridefest had included a softball tournament, a picnic, a formal ball, and a film festival. Eventually expanding, with more and more pouring in every year, in 1996 they moved to Summerfest grounds. This is the 22nd Pridefest there.
PrideFest Milwaukee 2018 is at Henry W. Maier Festival Park on 200 N. Harbor Dr. Geusts to be added along with other entertainment schedules will be posted to pridefest.com. Weekend passes can be picked up at pridefest.com/tickets, according to The Wisconsin Gazette.
Pridefest 2018 is looking to be a must go to for those in the local area, and probably the state, and most likely will attract a large nationwide audience. This will give the LGTBQ community something to cheer about, especially since within recent years they have seen some progression, even to this day.
