The music industry is about to get more popping as Drake announced on Instagram on Monday, April 16, that he will be releasing a new album, posting himself in a jacket with the words "Scorpion" and "June Twenty-Eighteen."
Rolling Stone confirmed that Scorpion will be released this year, 2018. The title while bringing awareness of its self to the public eye also alludes to the various traits of the Scorpio (which Drake is) and could indicate an album of more than just huge hits but deep metaphorical meditation.
Drake revealed very little, probably to his fans that much harder when they hear it drop. Drake also posted a golden medallion with a scorpion symbol on it.
Drake obviously has some momentum going into the new album with his new single Nice for What, starting off at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 on Monday, replacing God's Plan which sat at number one for 11 weeks.
Drake is the 13th artist ever to replace a number one single with a number one single on the chart.
Nice for What had a sample of the Lauryn Hill track Ex-Factor, along with the cameos from many star actresses in the above video.
Drake's More Life, came out in March 2017, dropping singles to boot. Since 2015 Drake has released at least one full-length album every year, according to Rolling Stone.
Drake, born October 24, is a Scorpio, so on the positive, there is probably going to be emotionally bombastic songs to the tune of trust and truth, bravery and resourcefulness, according to Pedestrian.
Although there could be more than just this since the Scorpio can take three different forms, which are the Scorpion (or the lizard), Eagle and Phoenix (or the dove).
The Scorpion is the base and is a Scorpio who is ruled by emotion and instinct and are very unstable with bouts of emotional rage. This is the Scorpio every one hates.
The Eagle is higher, is self-aware of their power, and can soar to great heights, and aren't as manipulative as the former stage. They are not all good not all bad.
The Phoenix is the maximum potential a scorpion can achieve, which is someone who can heal and bring peace (while being aware and keeping control of the darkness within). When someone is at this stage they have gone through some kind of intense transformation, and a Scorpio can fluctuate throughout all three stages several times in a lifetime, according to Exemplore.
If it's Drake, he will surely include through hints and metaphorical symbol in both music and video to incorporate the above three phases, as well as just the general traits of being a Scorpio. So expect to hear a combination of the dark Id which lurks within, the big time beat conquest, and songs with an aim to heal the world. Until then Drake certainly is on top wither way with his singles and like his former albums, Scorpion will most likely be a chart topper.
