What's a wedding without some family drama?!!
Meghan Markle released a statement via Kensington Palace on Thursday confirming that her dad, Thomas Markle, Sr. who is 73-years-old, will not be attending her wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday, May 19.
This announcement comes at just about the same time that it was confirmed that her mother, Doria Ragland is in London and joined the royal family for tea.
"Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health."
Doesn't this news strike anyone as being a bit odd? Wild horses couldn't keep most loving dad's away from their children's weddings and while Meghan's note is polite, it isn't screaming with disappointment and it isn't even hinted at that his presence will be missed.
Meghan's dad has been riddled with controversy lately as it was widely suggested that he staged shots for the paparazzi, but rumors about his poor health have also been circulating.
CNN reported that Meghan and her dad have been in contact over the past few days and he has been advised not to go to the wedding per medical advice.
Thomas Markle, JS., who worked as a TV lighting director, met Meghan's mom in the 1970s; they split when she was six years old.
He isn't the only immediate Markle family member who will not be attending. Half-sister Samantha Markle has stated that she wasn't invited and it doesn't look like she will be on their Christmas card list anytime soon either, after the negative things she said about Meghan.
It's pretty simple - Meghan Markle is the bride and she can invite whomever she wants.
