From 'Dancing with the Stars' to the Olympics and the Puerto Rican Day Parade, everything Laurie does is gold!
Laurie Hernandez wrapped up high school and she is about to embark on her training with hopes to be part of Team USA’s gymnastics team in time for Tokyo 2020. It is an exciting time to be Laurie Hernandez!
Hernandez was an essential part of the “final five” Olympic gymnastics team and is a two-time Olympic medalist in artistic gymnastics earning a gold team medal, as well as the silver in the balance beam in Rio.
In 2016, she became the youngest winner of Dancing with the Stars in 2016. Her partner was Val Chmerkovskiy. She is a frequent guest on many talk shows, but she also guest starred on Sesame Street and Stuck in the Middle as herself and she appeared on an episode of Law and Order: SVU.
Last year, she published I Got This: To Gold and Beyond and it went on to become a New York Times best-seller.
Hernandez is a proud Puerto Rican. She has said that she enjoys making Puerto Rican dishes with her family. She is one of the most popular celebrities of Puerto Rican descent. The list also includes Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jennifer Lopez, Luis Fonsi, Benicio del Toro, Jimmy Smits, Rita Moreno, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Natalie Morales, Ricky Martin, David Rodriguez and Hector Elizondo.
With the Puerto Rican Day Parade taking place in New York on June 10, that is an important thing to know. Perhaps we will see her at the parade.
