Dwayne Johnson, known for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, has confirmed that he is not cameoing as Black Adam in the Shazam! film next April.

Rumors have swirled for years around a film about the DC Comics superhero blessed with the powers of Egyptian gods. Next year's Shazam!, starring Zachary Levi, is finally moving forward, according to Johnson.

The project was reported last year as being split into two films; Shazam! is releasing next April, while Black Adam doesn't have a release date yet, according to IGN.

According to Variety, Walter Hamada, a veteran producer, has taken over film operations from Jon Berg, who left to join Roy Lee, producer of The Lego Movie.

DC is in a period of transition in terms of its films; critics hated Suicide Squad, yet Wonder Woman was a huge hit. On the other hand, Justice League flopped. Therefore, we'll just have to see what kind of film they deliver next.
