Yesterday marked the debut of the trailer for On the Basis of Sex, a biopic of revolutionary Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg starring Felicity Jones.
Ginsburg was the second of only four female justices to be confirmed to the Supreme Court. Ginsburg has been a lifelong advocate for gender equality, but the film will revolve around her rise to advocacy in the early years of her law career. Felicity Jones will play the future justice, with a cast rounded out by Armie Hammer, Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates and Sam Waterston.
On the Basis of Sex marks the return of Mimi Leder to the big screen. For the last nine years, she has flourished in television directing, most recently with The Leftovers. In a meaningful twist, Leder was the first woman to graduate from the AFI Conservatory in 1973.
On the Basis of Sex premieres this Christmas. Check out the trailer below!
