Season five of Fortnite is slated to begin July 12 at 4 a.m., EST. Season four will wrap up one day previously, on July 11. But what does this mean?
It means that players of the battle-royale juggernaut will get new goodies, probably in the form of new cosmetics, along with quality-of-life service updates.
Many look forward to answers for the strange rifts that opened up in the skies of the map (Polygon has put together a comprehensive case file for theories on the rifts, but the TL; DR is that players may be traveling through time with the help of the Visitor skin).
Further fueling speculation was this image posted by the Fortnite Twitter, which marks the return of an old skin with some new background details:
