Disney's Incredibles 2, directed by Brad Bird has as of this past weekend made $646.8 million at the box office, beating its 2004 original's $633 million. It's only been out for three weeks.
The Incredibles introduced us to the Parrs, a family of superheroes trying to live an everyday existence. Its sequel deals with the supers exposed to the world but trying to prove their relevancy. The films showcase talented greats such as Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, and Samuel L. Jackson, among others.
According to IGN, Incredibles 2 is the third highest-grossing film of 2018, behind Black Panther ($699 million) and Avengers: Infinity War ($670 million). The movie also managed to have the largest opening of all time for an animated film, earning $180 million.
Screenrant considers this film an important introduction for films of the #MeToo era, as it features a woman who works outside the home while her husband stays home and takes care of the kids. It features an empowered woman, who women of today are definitely looking up to.
