The 64th episode of the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime is not slated to air on Disney XD, despite having aired in Japan in the spring.

The episode’s translated title is “Satoshi and Nagetukesaru! Touchdown of Friendship!!” according to Bulbapedia, the Pokémon Wiki. Bulbapedia states that the episode’s removal was due to concerns over a sequence in which Ash Ketchum, our forever-ten-year-old protagonist, dresses up like a Passimian.

Some fans speculate the episode was banned due to Ash’s makeup resembling blackface.

There is no official word on why the episode is not scheduled to air. It is possible that the episodes have merely been reordered instead of this one being canceled altogether, which the series has done before.

The Pokémon franchise also has a history of designing creatures that embody negative stereotypes. The Pokémon Jynx was reworked after criticized for using racial stereotypes in its design.
