Andrew Lloyd Webber's Broadway show Cats is finally receiving a true film adaptation. James Corden, Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, and Ian McKellen have been cast.

Tom Hooper, known for Les Miserables and The King's Speech, will direct the project. According to AJC, production will begin in November.

Cats is based on T.S. Eliot's book Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, which was published in 1939. It discusses creatures known as Jellicle cats and their hidden world. Webber sewed it together with a plotline of the cats seeking redemption in what is known as the "Heaviside layer". The musical opened on Broadway in 1982 and ran for 18 years before moving on to London's West End.

According to Variety, Hudson will star as Grizabella, who sings "Memory."  It is currently unknown what roles Corden, Swift and McKellen will play.

Cats previously received a musical direct-to-video film in 1998.

No release date has been set.
