A mid-credits cutscene for Teen Titans Go! To the Movies reveals the Titans drawn in the style of the original animated show. Robin, leader of the group of heroes, is surrounded by the Titans as he declares to the camera, “We think we’ve found a way back!”
The movie has been out mere hours, but it has done what Teen Titans Go! has failed to do: excite its loyal fans. The original Teen Titans is beloved by its fans, largely in part for not shying away from serious stories. Many fans were disappointed that the new series does not treat its viewers as maturely as the original did, saying that the series’ respect for its viewers was what made it special. Admittedly, the reboot is a little less grounded: one nonsensical scene from the show sees the characters using bees as currency.
Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is an in-theaters movie for Teen Titans Go!, which is itself a spin-off of the original series, Teen Titans, that was canceled in 2006 after a respectable five seasons. Teen Titans Go! has drawn ire from die-hard fans of the original series and the DC comics the shows are based on (which in turn are filled with characters who were former sidekicks to other superheroes—that’s the end of the rabbit hole, I promise).
