Chris Pratt admits it’s “not an easy time” for him and his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy co-stars in the wake of director James Gunn’s firing.
Pratt told the Associated Press about the difficulties surrounding the rest of the cast in the wake of Gunn’s firing:
“It’s not an easy time. We all love James and he’s a good friend of ours, but we also really love playing the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s a complicated situation for everybody. And you know, we just want to move forward and do what’s right and be the best people we can be.”
Pratt had allied with his Guardians cast members and signed an open letter in support of Gunn’s reinstatement as director:
However, Marvel Studios is reportedly attempting to find a “compromise” with Disney to allow Gunn to return as director. These “back channel conversations,” as Deadline reports, happened in the wake of the entire main cast declaring their support for Gunn, as well as the outpouring of support by fans.
Gunn was fired in July after decade-old tweets resurfaced of Gunn making jokes out of subjects such as pedophilia and rape. The tweets were dug up by conservative pundits after Gunn criticized conservative commentator Ben Shapiro. Disney responded swiftly to the initial outcry by firing Gunn at the very start of San Diego Comic Con.
