The showrunners of The Connors, the upcoming Roseanne spin-off series, are keeping details of the show under lock and key.
The minds behind the spinoff featuring the Connor family sans the matriarch are following the footsteps of Marvel, said Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, to Indiewire:
“Interestingly, and I’ve been kind of surprised at this, the team of showrunners at ‘The Conners’ have started to take a cue from Marvel and Shondaland in terms of holding everything close.”
The Connors spinoff happened in the wake of the sudden cancellation of the Roseanne reboot after Roseanne Barr made a racist attack on Twitter against Valerie Jarrett, Obama-era White House staffer. The reboot was very swiftly canceled after her tweet, and news of the spinoff came quickly after, too. Since then, Barr has made many apologies for her actions.
