The winners of the Webby Awards, which honor the best of the Internet over the past year, were announced today. Rapper Frank Ocean, comedian Jerry Seinfeld and President Obama’s re-election campaign were among the winners.

Ocean won Webby Person of the Year thanks to his use of the Internet to promote Channel Orange and how he utilized Tumblr to thank his fans. He also famously used Tumblr to announce that he is gay, a move that earned widespread praise on the web.

Seinfeld scored Outstanding Comedic Performance. In 2012, he launched the unique Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee series, which featured comedians doing just that in Seinfeld’s classic cars.

Trigger Street Productions Co-Founders Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti were awarded a special achievement prize for helping to prove that the web can be used to distribute a show. They are the executive producers behind Netflix’s House of Cards, which debuted exclusively on the service.

Steve Wilhite won the Lifetime Achievement Award for inventing the GIF, while Obama for America 2012 won Webby Breakout of the Year for its use of the web during President Obama’s successful run for re-election.

EW notes that The Onion won Best Humor Website again, while Grimes won Webby Artist of the Year.

The awards will be handed out on May 22 at WebbyAwards.com. Patton Oswalt is hosting.
