World War Z finally hits theaters on June 21 and fans at a Hoboken, New Jersey movie theater got a special early screening of Brad Pitt’s latest film. While seeing the zombie epic earlier than anyone else might sound cool, the fact that Pitt himself showed up made the event even more special.

According to The Star-Ledger, Pitt showed up just before the screening was set to start at 10:45 p.m. “We've got to screen it for the fans,” he told the excited crowd. “And what better place than New Jersey?”

He also reportedly had t-shirts that he gave to the fans.

“Brad wanted to make sure that the screening was for the fans, the people that he made the film for,” a source told JustJared. “The crowd went wild when he showed up and he had t-shirts to hand out to his fans. He made sure to give New Jersey a big shout out before the movie started!”

While Pitt tries to put a smile on for the public, the behind-the-scenes drama on the making of World War Z has made Paramount nervous. Last month, a Vanity Fair article detailed the troubles Paramount had, which included re-shooting the entire final act. The magazine published the entire piece online, revealing that its budget reached an estimated $250 million, although Paramount claims it cost $170 million to make. Still, the studio is hoping that World War Z doesn’t turn into the John Carter of 2013. But it has a hill to climb, since the film will have to make around $400 million worldwide for Paramount to make a profit.
