We've recently looked at the new Dyson DC47, a powerful compact vacuum cleaner that features Dyson's Ball technology. The innovative Ball technology also comes in an upright vacuum cleaner that is just as impressive, the Dyson DC50.
The DC50 features Dyson's improved two-tier radial cyclone technology that provides constant suction and power. The DC50 is the first Dyson upright to feature a double stack of cyclones to increase airflow and separate more microscopic dust. The cyclones' reduced size saves on spaces all the while creating high centrifugal forces to separate dust from the airflow.
Like the DC47, the DC50's Ball design features a lower center of gravity for greater control. It turns on the spot and steers easily into difficult spaces. It's also very lightweight, coming in at just 11.6 pounds.
The DC50 also comes with the ingenious Tangle-free Turbine tool. Counter-rotating heads with brushes effectively remove hair from carpets and upholstery. It's great for cleaning up hair, pet hair, or confetti and streamers from after a party. Because there's no brush bar for hair to wrap around, you can save valuable time in cleaning the floor and not unclogging your vacuum. Here's a demonstration of how the Tangle-free Turbine tool works:
The DC50 comes with a combination tool to clean hard-to-reach areas and a stair tool that removes dirt and dust from corners and against the vertical edges of stairs. It also comes with a 5-year warranty, parts and labor. The DC50 sells for $499 at Amazon.com.
